I have just added a digital "cyclometer" to my new Savage. It displays the speed, average speed, top speed, total riding time, has a settable odometer and a trip meter. I've mounted it in the middle of the handlebars and routed the sensor down the front brake line to the front disc brake.

The "cyclometer" cost less than $30 and it took about a litte over an hour (in the dark by a porch light) to install.

It looks good and the trip meter is invaluable. I especially like the fact that I do not have to look all the way down to the gas tank to see my speed. Now I just glance down, see my speed and keep riding!

The only drawback is that the display can't be seen at night. I guess that's another project!

If there is enough interest, I'll see if I can get a digital camera and put up a web page with photos and instructions.

Happy riding!
